| Skills for Life Awareness for Care Staff |
|
|
Following on from a recent successful pilot, funded by Skills for Care, VOISE is now pleased to offer a one day Skills for Life Awareness course for staff working with clients with additional needs. The course will have an emphasis on Literacy skills. The course will empower staff to assess and address the Skills for Life needs of their own clients; as well as learning about the national Skills for Life strategy and provision in their local area. The information gained will add a new dimension to person-centred planning for each client. We encourage clients to attend the mid-morning session of the course, to put the knowledge gained into practice. Therefore, we recommend that the course is delivered in the workplace. However, if this is not possible, the course can be delivered with extensive case studies at VOISE's main site. The course can be contextualised to many client areas including; physical and learning disability and older people. Other client groups can be utilised. The day will be split into the following areas: the Skills for Life strategy locally and nationally; assessment (we invite clients to attend this session which should last around 1.5 hours); interpreting assessments and signposting; revision; timed assignment. In the final part of the day staff will be encouraged to take the City and Guilds timed assignment to receive accreditation for their work. This will be Unit 001 of the Level 2 Certificate in Learning Support. The course will be delivered by a Skills for Life specialist with over four years experience working with all types of Skills for Life learners. Cost The price of this course is just £45 to cover the cost of City and Guilds registration. Due to the nature of the course we can only take a maximum of eight staff per course. How to Book a Place on This Course Each course is bespoke to your organisation/client group. Please contact the VOISE office on 01772 679888 and ask to speak to Martin to arrange a course. |
