NSPF Learning Events: Future Registration of Health and Social Care Providers
NSPF Learning Events: Future Registration of Health and Social Care Providers

The Department of Health will be running an NSPF Learning Event in Leeds on 24th April which will focus on future registration of health and adult social care providers.

The Leeds event will take place on the afternoon of 24th April at 13.00-16.00 at the Congreve Room, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds,  LS2 7UP.

Background

The current Health and Social Care Bill introduced to Parliament in November 2007 will, subject to Parliamentary approval, pave the way for the establishment of the proposed new integrated health and adult social care regulator: the Care Quality Commission. From April 2009 it will take over the functions of the Healthcare Commission, the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) and the Mental Health Act Commission (MHAC).

The department is shortly to launch a consultation on the framework being developed for the registration of health and adult social care providers, which will be introduced in April 2010.  The consultation will seek views on which services should fall within the scope of registration and the requirements service providers will have to meet in order to be able to provide regulated services.

The DH team leading on the consultation will describe the context for the consultation, the reasons why we are setting up the new Commission, what its responsibilities will be, and the timescales we are working to. The purpose of the Learning Event is to open up discussion of the issues raised in the consultation document and to seek your initial views, particularly on issues related to the implication of the new framework for health and adult social care providers outside of the NHS. We also want to encourage you to engage with the consultation process within your own organisations and with your stakeholders.

A formal programme will be sent out nearer the time, however it would be useful to have your expressions of interest as soon as possible as only a limited number of places are available.  Unfortunately, only one application per organisation will be accepted.

Please register your interest by letting us know your preferred venue, name, organisation, email address and contact telephone number and respond directly to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
