Emma Keany: Runner Up as Young Hero of the Year
Everybody at VOISE would like to say congratulations to Emma Keany, daughter of VOISE's Office Manager Cathy Keany, who was awarded runner up for Young Hero of the Year at the Red Rose Heroes Dinner on Friday 14th December. Emma won the award for saving her mother, Cathy, who had a serious accident at home in June 2007. Emma showed incredible calm, bravery and maturity to put her fire safety knowledge into action to help Cathy.
Cathy, Emma, and family were joined at their table by a number of ladies from Milbanke HFE in Kirkham who were runners up as voluntary organisation of the year. Well done also to Edna Hastings who was presented the award for volunteer of the year for her work with Age Concern (she is a sprightly 90 year old who still helps others).
